''I Am Not My Cloths''

Just because you dress a certain way, does it mean you are that way?

Often times I believe it's not so. Many people who dress certain ways are not exactly what their cloths make them to be. Some who dresses Gothic like in all black may not necessarily be a mean person, or someone who dresses provocatively may not be looking for the attention. But although your cloths don't necessarily define who you are as a person, don't you believe it says a little about you?

We are all aware that we are judged firstly on appearance, that's just how the mind operates, after all you know nothing about a stranger at first, your mind can only form an image of what it believes one personality could be.

But my question is this, if a girl goes out in a miny skirt and a hulter top,and then say's ''why are all these guys bothering me'', and gets upset, it leads me to ask the question, did she not know that men will stare and comment? If a guy goes out in baggy jeans down to his butt, and a t-shirt and fitted, then say I'm not a thug, did they not know that that s societies perception of a thug? The conduct or dressing of a certain individual groups have been made and set by society. A thug is usually seen as one who has his pants hanging down and wear big cloths, when someone says the word prostitute the first thing that comes to mind is revealing cloths.

The point I'm trying to make is everyday we are judged by people who can really only get a sense of who we are by our appearance and whether or not we would like to admit it, appearance does matter and you will be judged by it at some point whether you like it or not; it is how the human mind works. It's up to you, whether what you are perceived to be by others will affect you positively or negatively; and if it does affect you negatively you may want to change your wardrobe.

Some web definitions (according to dictionary.com):

Provocative: Arousing sexual desire or interest, esp. deliberately.

Perceive: Become aware or conscious of (something); come to realize or understand.
